Wheat Sedge (Carex Atherodes)
Carex Atherodes, or more commonly know as Wheat Sedge, is a graminoid with green foliage and green flowers of the genus Carex. It has a moderate growth rate and a height of 5 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It’s active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during late spring and is intolerant of shade. Carex Atherodes or Wheat Sedge‘s floral region is North America US Lower 48 and Alaska, specifically in the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
