Roughhairy Indigo (Indigofera Hirsuta)
Indigofera Hirsuta, or more commonly know as Roughhairy Indigo, is a subshrub forb/herb with green foliage and purple flowers of the genus Indigofera. It has a moderate growth rate and a height of 5 feet at maturity. Its duration is annual which means it grows for one season only. It’s active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during late summer, is intolerant of shade and is routinely available commercially. Indigofera Hirsuta or Roughhairy Indigo‘s floral region is North America US Lower 48 and Puerto Rico, specifically in the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.
