Alpine Sweetvetch (Hedysarum Alpinum)
Hedysarum Alpinum, or more commonly know as Alpine Sweetvetch, is a forb/herb (a forb/herb is a non-woody plant that is not a grass) with green foliage and purple flowers of the genus Hedysarum. It has a rapid growth rate and a height of 2 feet at maturity. Its duration is perennial which means it will grow year after year. It’s active growth period is spring and summer, blooms during early summer and is intolerant of shade. Hedysarum Alpinum or Alpine Sweetvetch‘s floral region is North America US Lower 48 and Alaska, specifically in the states of Alaska, Maine, Michigan, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont and Wyoming.
